Part one: VidPhone
1. How to install VidPhone?
This is the installation sequence, which should work for any operating systems:
a. Install the software first, then shut down the machine;
b. (If you use a USB camera, skip this step) Install the video capture card;
c. Restart the machine.
2. My machine works fine on the Internet, but others can't see me.
For VidPhone PRO users: If you can't see yourself, please follow the VidPhone manual to set up your camera. If you can see yourself, the other party is having the connection problem.
For VidPhone users: Please check whether you have installed a firewall, router or VNP. If so, open port 2000 and forward the port to your machine IP. If port 2000 is not available, use any port between 2000-2100.
3. What's the default port for VidPhone?
VidPhone uses default port 2000 for peer-to-peer connection.
4. VidPhone runs on what operating systems?
Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, 2003
5. The video works fine, but no sound is coming through. Why?
Check the speakers' bars:
a). If the bars not moving, the other party is not sending audio through. The other party might have a faulty microphone, or may be in use by other program.
b). If the bars are moving, the other party definitely is sending you the audio, so please check your speaker/headset connections and volume setting.
6. Why is it that the other party can see me but can't hear my voice?
Check your microphone bars:
a). If the bars are not moving, you definitely has problem locally. check your audio settings and your microphone connection.
b). If the bars are moving, then the other party has one of the following problems: speaker/headset connection, volume setting and audio device settings.
7. How to get the best out of a USB camera?
Install the latest USB driver and adjust the properties accordingly.
In the case of I-Stream shipped cameras:
a. select [Video Driver] ==> [Use DirectShow driver]
b. select [Video Device] ==> [USB PC Camera...]
c. select [Property]:[Source]; and adjust the settings on the following screen to your preference: (Please take note, different cameras have different drivers, so your camera properties panel may look different from the following.)
Basically, just tick the checkbox of [Backlight Comp] and leave the rest as the default will be fine.

Part two: VidServer
1. Why do I have to wait a long time to sign onto another server?
Normally, making a connection takes under five seconds. If it takes longer than that, either your Internet connection is poor, or the server on the other end is busy.
2. Why can't I select any camera I prefer while I am running client software?
There are higher-level users visiting the server. You may contact the server user to get higher-level ccessibility.
3. How many cameras/video sources can be connected to the server?
A standard system has two BNC connections and one S-Video connection for both PAL and NTSC standard. An optional video switch is available, if more than three video devices need to be connected.
4. I am running I-Stream Video Player, but no video signal comes through at all. Why?
You have to make a connection to the server you want to talk to. Click CALL#, enter the server number you want to connect to, then type your username and password, and click OK.
5. I made the connection, I can hear the sound, but I can't see any video. Why?
Please wait for a few seconds. If you see a blue screen, and the problem persists, there are a few possibilities:
1. You selected the wrong camera.
2. The other party's camera may be incorrectly configured.
3. You may have a bad Internet connection.
6. Why can't I visit the server?
1. The server is not on.
2. Incorrect username, password.
3. No network connection.
7. Why are my on-screen text and key buttons not correctly positioned?
Please set your Windows font to "small".
8. Why can't I record video?
Check the available storage of the target hard disk. I-Stream reserves 10 percent of your hard disk for other programs. Either clean out your hard disk or try recording on another.

Miscellaneous FAQ
1. How to do port forwarding?
There are a few options:
a. Request your ISP to set it up for you.
b. Get a network technician to set it up for you.
c. Do it yourself if you know your router/firewall. If you are not familiar with your router/firewall, you may find the following link would be very helpful: http://www.portforward.com/

2. Does the I-Stream video capture card need a separate driver?
No. The I-Stream software comes with the driver.
